Getting up earlier

This is a blog post I made three years ago. I decided to publish it anyway.

12/8/22

The days go by too quickly. I am sort of in a routine, but not a writing routine. I’m not going to be too hard on myself, because we just moved to Texas 3 months ago. I’m getting used to everything and trying to get things in order.

I’ve decided to start getting up earlier. I had started going to bed later and later because I wasn’t tired. That meant I got up later and later. For me to just “go to bed earlier” doesn’t work. If I’m not tired, I’ll lay in bed for an hour or more. I’ve decided the way to remedy this is to go to bed when I get tired, but then get up earlier. This week it’s 1 hour and next week it will be 1.5 hours. I had been getting up at 9:30, but the rest of this week it will be 8:30. Next week 8:00… until I’m getting up at 6:30 every day. Eventually I’ll start going to bed earlier because I’ll be tired.

This might seem trivial, but it’s where I’m going to start.

The plan:

  • Get up at 8:30 the next 5 days (or earlier if I wake up)
  • Have coffee, listen to the Bible and knit
  • Get my housework done in the morning
  • work on finishing handmade journals for an hour
  • Sit down at my desk to work on my book.
  • Make a roadmap for the book. I don’t like outlines, so I’ll call it a roadmap. Roadtrips are fun, and you need a roadmap to go on a roadtrip.

After I figure out my destination, then I can get back on my roadtrip (working on my book).
